Pineapple

Back to A - Z

Jason says...

This deliciously sweet fruit works very well with both vegetables and fruit to produce a satisfying juice. Pineapples contain an enzyme called bromeline which has an amazing ability to dissolve mucus, so is really helpful with people who suffer with asthma and hay fever.

Juice or smoothie?

Juice - but can be used for fruit or vegetable smoothies; can also be blended to add thickness and fibre to a smoothie. Frozen pineapple, which will still be nutrient rich, may be used if fresh is unavailable.

Good for...

Digestion; aches and pains; asthma; hay fever

Top tip...

You can juice the skin of a pineapple, just make sure that you give it a good wash first, this will tone down the sweet taste.
